Define
the Training/Education criteria for an employee to move on the pay matrix.(45% ) 100 increments
T/E must
fit the job. Employees may claim T/E for movement on the Base Pay Matrix if the
training was completed no earlier than January, 2003 (IEM’s new beginning),
with the exception of Degrees or Certificates.
Anyone having a Degree or Certificate may submit the request for credit
regardless of when it was received.
Definition:
“Training” can be a seminar, workshop or conference that may pertain to one of
an employees job functions or multiple functions,
Credit is given only in the job function/functions for which training
specifically applies.
“Education”
are courses or degrees that may pertain to one of an employee’s job functions
or multiple functions, Credit is given only in the job function/functions for
which education
specifically applies.
“Certificate”
equals a "Degree"; just without the general ed classes needed for an AA (2 yr. Degree).
A
"Certificate" is worth 10 credits in the Training/Education pay
variable.
An
employee can earn training/education credit in the following manner;
1-3 hour training 1 credit
1/2 - 1 day training = 2.5
credits
College
Course or multiple day training = 5 credits
AA or
Certificate = 10 credits
Bachelor
Degree = 15 credits
Post
Graduate = 20 credit

Media in

to receive the credit an employee must read the book or listen to the CD
The
training should not be done on company time
If the
book/CD does not come with review questions the employee must write one summary
paragraph per chapter and write two questions about the chapter with the
correct answer. If the book or CD has questions after each chapter or section
the employee will answer these questions for credit.

report will be submitted to HR for training credit

An
additional degree increases your credits by the difference of the credits given
by the first degree
and credits for the second. Additional
degree credits are not cumulative.
An
employee may request pre-approval for credit from President or designee.
Pre-approval is not required but without pre-approval there is no guarantee
employee will receive credit or that the training will be paid for by the organization
If employee is filling out a request for training form they may request
pre-approval on check off box provided in form. Form is located in all IEM
Offices. Pay of training may be based on both application to employee's job
function and the training budget.
Employees
will keep a log of training/education that they intend to use to move on the
pay matrix
The form
will is in each of the IEM Offices. The form will list the training/education
received, how it pertains to job function (s), how it has been applied to
actual work performance, and length of the training.
Employees
will provide a photocopy of the syllabus, program, certificate or degree and
attach to the form. The form is submitted to HR.
